Empty fields are left out of the code. Only describe what visitors can actually see on the page: Google can ignore markup that doesn’t match the page.

Your JSON-LD

Paste the code into the HTML of the page it describes, in the <head> or anywhere in the <body>. In WordPress, use your SEO plugin’s custom schema option or a header and footer code plugin.

Test your code

Copy the code first, then choose “Code” (or “Code snippet” in the validator) and paste it in. The Rich Results Test shows whether Google can show a rich result; the Schema.org validator checks any type.

About the tool

How the Schema Markup Generator works

The Schema Markup Generator creates JSON-LD structured data, the code search engines read to understand what a page is about. Pick a type, fill in the form, and the finished <script type="application/ld+json"> block updates as you type. It supports Article (including blog and news posts), Organisation, Local business with opening hours, address and map position, Product with price, rating and reviews, FAQ, Breadcrumbs, Event with venue, online link and tickets, Person, Website, Recipe and How-to. Empty fields are left out of the code, and text is escaped so it can never break out of the script tag.

Each field is marked Required or Recommended, based on Google’s structured data documentation, and the checks list tells you what is missing or looks wrong, such as a price without a currency or a URL without https://. The tool is honest about what Google shows: FAQ rich results now appear only for well-known government and health sites, Google no longer shows How-to rich results or the sitelinks search box, and star ratings a business writes about itself are not shown. The markup is still valid, but it is good to know before you spend time on it.

When you are done, copy the code or download it and paste it into the page it describes, then check it with the Google Rich Results Test and the Schema.org validator (both are linked). You can also paste existing JSON-LD to load it into the form and edit it; properties the form does not have are listed so nothing is lost silently. Everything runs in your browser and the tool does not use AI.

Frequently asked questions

What is schema markup and does it help SEO?

Schema markup is structured data that describes a page in a standard way, such as the price of a product or the date of an event. It does not boost rankings by itself, but it helps search engines understand the page and can make it eligible for rich results such as star ratings, prices and event details.

Where do I paste the JSON-LD code?

Paste it into the HTML of the page it describes, in the <head> or anywhere in the <body>. On WordPress, use your SEO plugin’s schema settings or a plugin that adds code to the header. Each page should have markup that matches what is visible on that page.

Why don’t I see FAQ or How-to rich results in Google?

Since 2023 Google shows FAQ rich results only for well-known, authoritative government and health websites, and it no longer shows How-to rich results at all. The markup is still valid schema.org and other services can read it, but most sites won’t get the special display in Google.

Does valid markup guarantee a rich result?

No. Valid markup makes a page eligible, but Google decides whether to show a rich result based on the page, the search and its quality guidelines. Markup must describe content that visitors can see on the page, and reviews and ratings must be genuine.

What does "Required" and "Recommended" mean here?

Required fields are the ones Google needs before it will consider a rich result for that type, such as a name and address for a local business. Recommended fields are optional but give Google more to work with. The labels are based on Google’s structured data documentation.

Can I edit markup I already have?

Yes. Choose Import JSON-LD and paste the JSON or the whole script block. Simple markup for the supported types loads into the form. If the code has several items, the first supported one is loaded, and any properties the form doesn’t cover are listed so you can add them back by hand.
